Provo Utah is the headquarters of the Uinta National Forest, and many admired fishing, boating, camping, and hiking spots with great outdoor scenic beauty surrounding the entire area. Provo has been listed as the tenth safest mid-sized city in the nation by Morgan Quinto, the publisher of City Crime Ratings in America. Out of 208 cities between 100,000 and 500,000 population, Provo is ranked tenth, or is in the safest 5% of such cities in the US. Railroad connections from Salt Lake City and Scofield in the 1800’s, made it a shipping point for the region's mines, and the city grew significantly in the late 20th century.
