Freedom Academy Reviews

I think Freedom Academy is a pretty good school and most of my eighth grade teachers there are awesome because they help me on things that are hard for me and are really nice to me. The rules and dress code at Freedom Academy are pretty strict. But Freedom has fun things you can do like volley ball, soccer, and lots of different clubs and things like that. Also I am going to Washington D.C later this year for history which is going to be great!

I personally like Freedom Academy because even though you get tons of homework, the teachers are nice & they have a good sense of humor. It's true that they expect alot from you, but that is because they want you to succed.Freedom is very goood at sports to. I just love it.

This was the first year our children attended this school. Our oldest son was going to be held back a year in the public school he was attending in Provo. We did not hold him back at Freedom. Not only has he 'caught up' with the other kids his age, he is now above grade level in math and science. One year at this incrediable school has made a huge diffrence. The full day kindergarten program with Mrs Anderson was awesome! She did a wonderful job with our son, who needed a little more push to start his education right. I hope my daughter gets excepted to this great program. Be prepared, because even kindergarteners bring home homework, so there is alot more parental involvment that I feel is seriously lacking in the public schools in Provo.

What a great school! Much better than the public Provo school my child was attending. Small class sizes, arts and music, high academics and dedicated teachers. My children will attend this school as long as we live in the area.

This school is really not fun. The teachers are really mean and they expect respect from you when they don't even try to respect you. Don't come to this school! This is coming from a student so you know its the real truth.

Not all charter schools are alike. I sent my son to this school last year and had such a great experience I thought I would try a charter school closer to home. His new charter school is a nightmare and now I'm hoping to transfer him back!

I have seen the long hours each teacher puts in every day and I have been very impressed with their efforts! Each teacher is devoted to their job and the principal continues to put in long hours as well. Nobody can understand the time that it takes to prepare each night, but I have seen them in the building until after 8:00pm! They try to have each student above grade level in each subject area, and I applaud their time and effort (pretty sure you won't find that in every school). Love this school and love the teachers

Good curriculum - Little teacher training for class management - discontinued Spanish curriculum for grades 1-3 after 1/2 year with teacher that did not speak Spanish - focus on image - administration does not value parent or teacher input

This is my son's first year and I've been very impressed so far with the curriculum and his 3rd grade teacher. She's very creative and genuinely cares about her students. So far, I'm very happy with his progress.

My child is attending the 7th grade at Freedom Academy having transferred this year from a different school. He will not be attending Freedom Academy next year as we have been very disappointed with the school. Disapline is low, teachers do not respond or respond slowly to requests for student information. I always have the feeling teachers are there to get thier hours in and get out of there. They don't have a big disire to make sure my student has a quality education. On a positive note; the building is beautiful.

This is my third year for my kids at Freedom Academy. Freedom Academy is not for everyone. Parents needs to understand that the curriculum is different than regular is school and be willing to help with homework. Your kids will have homework everyday such as reading at home. That is expected for every child. Yes, I agree that it could be difficult for some new student coming to the school. I know that my kids have achieved more since they started at Freedom , I see their improvement with math, science and language arts. Their teacher have being a great example for my kids. Keep working hard kids and don't forget to also have fun.

Freedom Academy certainly not a school for everyone. If you want success in your kids, we have to understand how a proper school should do in america. I think Freedom Academy is the school for student to level with others and to compare with others in the world.

I pulled my daughter out of this school and returned her to our old public school. I'm very disappointed -- Freedom Academy has a wonderful curriculum and some awesome teachers. The problems I found were: 1) Lack of flexibility in working with children who have subtle learning disabilities and don't qualify for formal IEPs or special ed. 2) Lack of tutoring for children who are new to the curriculum and are struggling. 3) Lack of training for parents who are expected to supplement the curriculum with at home study activities. 4) Unrealistic expections and workload in some academic areas. 5) Administration over the middle school is unwilling to investigate areas of concern for parents. 6) The emphasis on the school is math -- therefore, students are assessed and placed in math classes according to ability. The same is not done in reading and spelling. Created problems for my child.

I love the school. My kids excel here where they were held back and stymied by traditional public schools. The school allows students to level and work at their real academic level with supportive teachers and staff. Such a nice breath of fresh air for a school. The new spacious building provides excellent facilities for all the learning we need.

The teachers and administrators want each child to succeed and will do whatever it takes. I am happy with the academics and clubs. They don't have JV for Junior High ages--but who cares, there are less clicks. Ballet, hockey, swimming, golf, etc., can all be done outside of school. It is not a perfect school. But a better alternative to the local Utah Valley school districts.

I am in love the way my child has shown more interest and love in math.

I love this school. We are moving out of the area this summer and my biggest regret (besides moving away from near-by family) is having to leave this school. My daughter attends kindergarten here and she loves it. Her teacher, Mrs. Anderson, goes above and beyond what is expected of her. The kids get a lot of individual attention and they are able to learn at their own pace. My daughter is reading and doing math better than any kindergartener I know outside of Freedom academy. I recommend it highly to anyone. Parental envolvement is phenomenal.
